Athletic mouth guards help athletes avoid trauma to their teeth and reduce the chance of concussion when impact occurs. However, it’s important to know if your mouth guard protects your teeth like it should. The ADA (American Dental Association) worked with the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) to develop a standard for athletic mouth guards. In 2009, a study of over-the-counter products found none that met ANSI standards1. At Precision Dental of Windsor, we can create a custom mouth guard that meets these standards and help keep teeth protected during contact sports.
